Bookham Builders Merchants go Purple for charity
A Bookham builders merchants has launched #BuildItPurple fundraising campaign for adopted charity in the South East, Chailey Heritage Foundation.
The charity's £2.6 million D.R.E.A.M Centre project is for children and young people with complex disabilities and health needs throughout the entire South East region. The charity will build a modern, accessible indoor activity space where they can participate in an incredible range of arts and physical activities.
The charity, synonymous with the colour purple, will receive 25p for every specially designed Build-It-Purple bag of aggregate purchased from Chandlers Building Supplies in Bookham over the next three months. An extra £1 will be donated for every photo of a Build-It-Purple bag shared by anyone on social media using the hashtag #BuildItPurple.
Sue McKinney of Chandlers Building Supplies said: "We estimate raising about £3,000 for the DREAM project from this initiative and perhaps even double that if the public also gets involved.
"We are asking everyone to help us with this fundraising effort. If anyone spots a Chandler's Build-It-Purple bag anywhere just share the photo on twitter, instagram or facebook – using #BuildItPurple. Every photo shared will result in an extra £1 going to the Chailey's D.R.E.A.M Centre project."
Jennifer Hanraads of The Chailey Heritage Foundation said "It's great to have Chandlers Building Supplies involved with this project and we are extremely grateful for their continued support over the years. Let's get #BuildItPurple up and running!"
With three builders merchant branches in Surrey, Chandlers Building Supplies is confident that there will be hundreds of Build-It-Purple bags around the county.
