Charity Christmas Post launches for the 34th Year
Believe it or not, Christmas is quickly approaching. The popular Christmas Charity post will be operating again in your neighbourhood for - unbelievably - the 34th year. Nearly 200 volunteers are gearing up to deliver some 14,000 Christmas cards in the villages of Bookham, Fetcham and Effingham with guaranteed delivery of correctly addressed cards, still for just 30p, saving 24p on second class postage.
Most residents will know how the scheme works, but for the benefit of newcomers here is a brief summary. You will be able to buy your Charity Post stamps in any of the shops listed below or from one of our house-to-house sellers from Monday 20th November. Use them only on cards to addresses in Bookham, Fetcham or Effingham. Post them in any of the 12 shops or private houses displaying the Posting Point sign from Monday 20th November until the last posting date - 4.30 pm on Monday 18th December. Our volunteers will do the rest!
Money raised goes directly to charities whose mission it is to help enable third world communities. Last year £1000 was given to Water Aid to provide clean water overseas, £1000 to Medecine Sans Frontiere for their work with Syrian refugees and finally £1000 to Practical Action for a water project in East Africa.
If you feel inspired by this scheme, perhaps you might consider becoming a volunteer? If so, please contact our chairman Michael Agius on 01372 456545 or email email@example.com for further information.
From Monday 20th November, shops listed below will sell stamps and display a “Posting Point” notice. The post box will be inside the shop. From 10th December there will be three post collections until the last on 18th December.
